I am a private pay provider/out-of-network provider, so I am not in-network with any insurance companies. However, some people have more out-of-network benefits than they realize when it comes to mental health!
I recommend prospective clients to call the number on the back of their insurance card and ask the following questions:
The 4 questions that you will want to ask your insurance representative:
Does your plan include “out-of-network” coverage for mental health?
What is your annual deductible for mental health benefits?
What is your co-insurance? (What percentage does the plan cover?)
Is there a limit on the number of sessions your plan will cover per year?
It is also helpful to find out how you can submit your Super Bills to your insurance, which I am happy to provide you via email at your request.

Therapy is a sacred space that helps you access more tools within yourself. Every therapeutic journey is unique. I always tell my clients that my goal is provide support as long as you need, and you may end up finding value in a longer-term relationship.
I have also seen clients for years who decide to take a break and come back when they face new challenges or feel their anxieties resurfacing that increase the need for therapy. I am always happy to hear from past clients no matter how long it has been—whether you want to resume sessions or simply send a life update via email.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or, for current clients, contact Lisa.
